Why You Should Get An EV Charging Station For Your Home

You probably like driving your electric car, but you don’t like having to find a public charging spot and wait forever. A home charging station for electric vehicles (EVs) is probably something you’ve thought about, but you’re not sure of all the benefits.

A homeowner or renter of a multifamily building will always value having an EV charging station built and being able to charge at home more.

It Is Easier To Use

It looks like about 80% of EV users charge their cars overnight at home. People who put in an EV charging station at home get into the habit of charging their car overnight, just like they charge their phone.

And since you won’t need the car or phone while you sleep, you enjoy the free time and know that you’ll be ready for anything in the morning. ev charger installation at home also saves you time because you don’t have to go to a public charger and wait, often for hours, for the EV to get enough range to meet your needs.

Not As Expensive

Gas prices are always going up and down, so driving an EV was already cheaper per mile than driving a car that ran on gas.

Most people have installed electric vehicles (EVs) by an experienced electrician at home and only use it at night, when electricity rates are lower, to save money. People who use public charging stations, on the other hand, tend to use more expensive power during the day.

Along with making back the cost of the power, owners of public charging stations and other businesses include their overhead costs in the prices they charge. Among these costs are rent or mortgage payments, the cost of charging stations, repairs, and making money.

It costs time and money to use public charging stations, even the ones that are free in places like malls, bars, and other public places.

More Predictable

You won’t have to wait in line or get stuck at nearby public charging stations if you put in an EV charger at home. You can plug in your EV whenever you want and let it charge while you sleep, knowing that when you wake up, it will have a good range.

Also, if you made a more powerful Level 2 charging station at home, plugging it in overnight could give you an extra 250 miles of range, but this would depend on the battery.

Better For Your Battery

Electric car manufacturers want Level 3 fast charging to happen less often. Battery life is greatly reduced when using a Level 3 fast charger.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use a free fast charger if you find one on the road so you can get back to the Interstate faster, though.

Final Thought

Further, property owners should move quickly because many states and towns offer tax breaks. Support for buying and building charging points for electric vehicles comes from the federal government. Different areas and even energy companies offer different incentives, but the benefits are significant.
